mooc, text, week 2
Time goes by very quickly and here we are, already in week 2 of our MOOC Camp – therefore Jutta and Thomas discussed in a short video chat, what to expect in week 2 and if text creation is still important and relevant in the age of video and animated content. Check it out – and sorry that my hair is messy, Thomas didn’t warn me. Week 2 contains one page of content: Week 2: About text in a MOOC and three assignments. Don’t forget that there is no obligation for you to do all the assignments. Of course you will profit…

week 1
mooc, user-created content, week 1
It’s nice to have time and visit the MOOC Camp during the weekend. I read all the comments again and collected what seemed to be relevant for me in the Learners’ Materials page. You did great work in this first week of the MOOC Camp! In our MOOC approach the role of the moderator and convener is an important one. Thomas and I look, what’s happening, we are reacting, commenting, collecting useful information. With our work we try to make the MOOC environment more friendly and engaging, we aim to strengthen learners’ motivation. Of course in the MOOC Camp we are a rather small…

week 1
learning environment, mooc, reflection, week 1
We are at the end of a rather intense MOOC week. About fifty learners officially signed up, and as much where active at the website. At the moment there are about 200 comments on the website, many of them from Thomas and me of course, but also many from the learners. The MOOC environment Each learning environment is confusing at the beginning. We all remember students straying around in the campus, searching for their classrooms. One could imagine that in an e-learning environment it’s easier to develop clear structures. Unfortunately it isn’t. At the moment I am still a bit confused and…

#atletyc, mooc, video chat
Next Wednesday 16. November 17:00 (CET) a video chat will take place in the MOOC Camp. You may ask: What’s that? And how will it work? We are using the Hangout on Air tool of Google. To get a first impression you can take a look at one of the video chats of the cope15-MOOC There’s one person in the middle of the screen, this is Rupert speaking. And there are small windows at the bottom where you can see the video of the other participants. In the small window at the left you can read Rupert’s name (if your eyes work well enough, I…

mooc, structure, text, video, weeks
Next Monday we will start with our MOOC camp and we are already rather excited about it. Week 1 This week as previously described should provide you with a good start into the MOOC Camp. But what about Week 2 and Week 3? Week 2 focusses on text in MOOCs. In a MOOC of course there’s text to structure the weeks, to give some information around videos and assignments. Some MOOCs contain a lot of video material, prepared for learners who love to learn by watching videos. Our MOOC Camp focusses on exercises and learners’ activities. Using templates you will concretize your…

#atletyc, E-Learning, mooc
What is the basic idea behind MOOCs? MOOCs were developed to make university courses accessible for everyone who’s interested and wants to join, regardless to where people reside or their financial capabilities. That’s why MOOCs are basically open and accessible for everyone. That premise is also the root of the name MOOC: Massive Open Online Course. With time different MOOC models were developed, like the more university-scheduled xMOOC or the cMOOC, with looser structures and more user responsibility. One big further advantage of a MOOC is the possibility to connect and network with people you might would have never seen…

#atletyc, mooc, welcome
The start of the AtLETyC MOOC Camp is not too far away. For that reason the moderators Jutta and Thomas made a little welcome video, where they introduce themselves and talk about the development of this MOOC Camp and what they are excited about and expect in this MOOC. Have a look: Haven’t signed up yet? Sign in and join the MOOC makers Club for free 😉

#atletyc, build a MOOC, mooc, week 1
If you take a look at the What to learn in this MOOC page, you can see that Thomas and I will support you in this first week as facilitators (or experts – or how you want to call us – which means that we know stuff about a MOOC) and as moderators (or conveners – or how you want to call us – which means that we will support you on your first steps in our MOOC camp). In Week 1 in this MOOC camp between Monday 7.11. and Sunday 13.11.2016 you will gain some insights on how to learn in our MOOC,…
