Learning in a MOOC is exciting and time-consuming. We want to appreciate your activities by giving you a badge as confirmation of participation.
If you want to get a badge – and this is not compulsory, but is your choice – you should be an active online learner in these three weeks. You should invest between 5-10 hours per week and make your learning process visible for others in the web according to the four key activities of connectivism: aggregate – remix – repurpose – feed forward.
It would be great if you inform the moderators about your intention to get a badge during the signup process. In the last week of the MOOC you have to summarize your activities and reflect your MOOC experience to get the bagde. You make the summary available for the moderators and whoever you want to share it with.
I’m starting to read as learner to use insights/ideas/questions that arise to anticipate reactions of future learners to whom we are supposed to propose the Mooc into the Atletyc Project. Well, the first question would be then: how can the coordinator check the investment of 5-10 hours that each learner do every week in order to give or not the badge? Then, what does a badge look like???? 😉 Yes definetely I would like to go for a badge
Hi Valeria, of course I cannot check how many hours you invest into the MOOC Camp. We develop content and assignments with 5-10 hours of commitment in mind. As moderator I can monitor your activities at the website and this is my basis for the badge. How it looks like? You will see 🙂
Hello Jutta, yes understood. I am in favour of this, so not the measurement of time but the quality of the activity you evaluate, it sounds consistent with e-learning learning processes!
🙂 nevertheless it is important to have a specific duration in mind. In my role as facilitator I need it to plan the assignments and the learners need it to plan their learner. Nevertheless the time spent in learning processes varies a lot. There are people who need to learn the subject now! So they have an urgent need to read the content, fulfill the assignments. Others are interested into the subject but ….. So they invest less time.
My motivation in the teachers role is to ‘seduce’ them to invest more time than planned because it’s so interesting and challenging. If I succeed and somebody tells me at the end that he or she invested more time and now is rather satisfied with the learning process I’m happy 🙂
Hello, this is Valeria form Italy, I am on board! Let’s Mooc then, I am curious about how to build an effective Mooc, I would also receive a badge, thanks for your support
Just to be on the safe side: have anyone seen a badge already? 🙂 By the way, I go for one as well! 🙂
I would like to get badge 🙂
I’m sure you’ll get it 😉
Hello Thomas,
When learners will know if they get badge, or not?
Thank you!
I would like to get badge too !! 🙂
Perfect, it’s also noted in the learners list 😉
I’m curious to share ideas with others and learn the approach and development of a MOOC (getting the badge too!).
Good to be curious, I also look forward to the discussion here! 🙂
