Our MOOC learners

You can learn in this MOOC without account, password or anything similar. If you want to engage by writing comments you can do this using a nickname (you have to insert an email address as well, which will not be displayed). But …. for us moderators and conveners it is easier to have some ideas about the learners. Therefore we asked you to sign up. In the learners’ page nicknames, motivation and reason why you want to learn in this MOOC are listed. I like it that you come from so different countries. For some of you this is the first…

How to build week 2 & 3 in the MOOC Camp

Next Monday we will start with our MOOC camp and we are already rather excited about it. Week 1 This week as previously described should provide you with a good start into the MOOC Camp. But what about Week 2 and Week 3? Week 2 focusses on text in MOOCs. In a MOOC of course there’s text to structure the weeks, to give some information around videos and assignments. Some MOOCs contain a lot of video material, prepared for  learners who love to learn by watching videos. Our MOOC Camp focusses on exercises and learners’ activities. Using templates you will concretize your…

How to spend time in a MOOC

I love MOOCs because I can learn a lot of different topics together with people from around the world. Every time I attend a MOOC I get new ideas, aspects, a new perspective. I started to learn in MOOCs in Sep. 2011 in the change11 MOOC of George Siemens and Stephen Downes (the so-called “mother of all MOOCs, a real monster  of 35 weeks) – this MOOC was totally open and very chaotic! I got so many ideas in this MOOC! In the creativity MOOC of Tina Selig, Stanford University, 2013, I was part of a group of 30 (out of about 25.000 registered learners)…

What are MOOCs about?

What is the basic idea behind MOOCs? MOOCs were developed to make university courses accessible for everyone who’s interested and wants to join, regardless to where people reside or their financial capabilities. That’s why MOOCs are basically open and accessible for everyone. That premise is also the root of the name MOOC: Massive Open Online Course. With time different MOOC models were developed, like the more university-scheduled xMOOC or the cMOOC, with looser structures and more user responsibility. One big further advantage of a MOOC is the possibility to connect and network with people you might would have never seen…

Learners / travelers in our MOOC Camp

This image is one of the photos I took in Argentine during my extended visit last autumn. It’s near the Talampaya National Park. Learning and traveling have a lot in common. You have a plan (more or less), there are some paths that you can follow, you will meet new people, you have to face insecurity, there are unexpected outcomes waiting for you. And hopefully you are very happy from time to time 🙂 I would love it if our learners in the MOOC Camp experience some of these aspects during the three weeks of our MOOC. Fifteen learners wrote a comment…

In Week 1 in this MOOC camp between Monday 7.11. and Sunday 13.11.2016 you will gain some insights on how to learn in our MOOC,…

Welcome

Hi everybody! I’m Jutta and I’m happy that you visit our MOOC camp website. You make ask: Why another MOOC? In my experience – and I love to learn in MOOCs – every MOOC is exciting because you involve yourself in a new subject with new people. And online groups can really broaden your perspectives – at least I learned a lot from very different people online. And ask: But why this MOOC? In the AtLETyc project we have the challenge to build and offer a MOOC. As the project group is very heterogeneous and the ideas about MOOCs are very mixed we…
